Although I've always been interested in art, I didn't become a serious student until I began art lessons in 1997. Prior to that time, I was not familiar with pastels, but it quickly became my medium of choice. don't reject any subject in my art, but the majority of my work is still lifes including many florals. I find that in setting up still lifes, I can more easily manipulate the light for the most dramatic effects. I set up many of my still lifes on glass. The reflections add an element of interest as well as a challenginging degree of difficulty. I enjoy searching out difficult subjects as well as interesting plays of light and shadow on those objects.
I have been priviledged to participate in several juried shows, including the Pastel Society National Show, Masterworks of New Mexico, the National Museum for Women in the Arts show held in Santa Fe, among others, and my work has been published in the "Pastel Journal" and "international Artist" magazine. | Click images for details.
